Meagan is a Network Organizer at the Power Shift Network who is based in Birmingham AL. At PSN, she focuses on engaging and supporting student leaders from 2-year college campuses organize around climate and environmental justice issues. In addition, she helps facilitate collaboration between member and non-member organizations on projects and campaigns that are either youth-led or support youth leadership. Before coming to Power Shift, she taught early childhood outdoor education and organized locally with Southerners on New Ground and the Shut Down Etowah Campaign (SDE focuses on ending detention in Gadsden AL). Meagan is grateful for the profound mentors/leaders she continues to meet in the southeast who have have showed her what it takes to mobilize, change and heal communities and ourselves. As a queer artist, educator and organizer working at the intersection of detention and prison abolition, queer liberation and environmental justice, Meagan seeks to grow a deeper understanding of how these movements can better support each other and collaboratively fight for a just transition into a world where everyone can thrive as their most authentic self!
