I'm a doctoral student studying the ways communicative practices promote democracy, activism, and social justice. For three years, I was the president of the grassroots organizing effort Participatory Budgeting Greensboro that secured the city’s first PB process in 2015 with $500,000 for community-inspired projects and $200,000 in organizing funds. I earned my BA and MA in Communication Studies from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. My academic writings are found in Communication Education, Partnerships: A Journal of Service-Learning and Civic Engagement, and the Carolinas Communication Annual.
